Taste of PK Ridge Phil Dance 2 Binoyugan

These are pictures of the 2nd Philippine folk dance which I saw at the Taste of Park Ridge.

Binoyugan (beeh-noh-YOOH-gahn)

This dance is from the Ilokano region of Pangasinan, Binoyugan features women balancing on their heads a banga or clay pot which they use to fetch water from the river or well, or in which to cook rice. The dance culminates with the women laying stomach down on stage, and rolling from side to side, all while balancing the pot. (source EG. Taste of Park Ridge - Philippine Dancers

I attended the Taste of Park Ridge on Saturday July 14 and this Philippine dance group. The dance is called the "Tinikling". It is honored as the Philippine national dance. tinikling is a favorite in the Visayan islands, especially on the island of Leyte. The dance imitates the movement of the "tikling" birds as they walk between grass stems, run over tree branches, or dodge bamboo traps set by rice farmers. Dancers imitate the tikling bird's legendary grace and speed by skillfully maneuvering between large bamboo poles. (source EG. Noel's Pilipino Folkdance Glossary)

Stolen Spring Day in Park

Tuesday was a rare day this spring a sunny calm day. I took advantage of the weather and the park. I tried to capture some new angles and views of the park 4 blocks from our house. I have photographed there dozens of times. It's looks like other people visiting the park enjoyed the day with more than just walking. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed the pictures.

Sim Bung Gabee 2006

The Sim Bung Gabe is a Philppino community celebration of Christmas. This was held at St Monica Parish in Chicago. This is the first post I have completed on my IMAC. I enjoyed taking these pictures. MPCB November 12 Concert

Romeo n Norma 25 th Party

The following pictures are of our friend Norma and Romeo's 25 th Wedding Anniversary. We had not visited them for 20 years when they invited us to visit their home and attend their 25 th Party in August. Their four children prepared a dance number which they performed for Norma and  Romeo. The children's ages are about from 16 to 24 years. One of their close friends is a dance instructor who led most of the dances as you will see. We were honored and enjoyed the evening.

Day at Arlington Race Course

July 23rd Our photoclub visited Arlington Park Racecourse. We had a record 14 members attend the outing. It was hot had to be 90d. We camped at the 1/2 pole on the grassy infield, I could have used a blanket. There are 9 races with a 20 minute break between races. It makes for a long afternood without a chair. A group of us explored the track coredors and Paddock area where the horses are paraded before the race. I got some decent pictures and learned about horses and horse racing. I did get a little more sun than I wanted. Enjoy the pictures.
